Do you know what a dental bridge is? Has Dr. Sean Ferguson told you that it’s time to get one? What’s the process? Here’s what you need to know:
A bridge is a non-removable prosthetic device that is a replacement for one or more missing teeth in a row. It is attached to your mouth by two crowns that are placed over natural teeth on either side of the gap in your mouth. A standard bridge is made from sturdy porcelain which is shaded and formed to match the rest of your teeth and functions just as well.
We tend to customize the process of getting a bridge to your personal needs, but to give you a general idea, here’s an outline of the process:
Initially, Dr. Sean Ferguson will partially eliminate the enamel of your two anchoring teeth. This is to get ready to place the crowns. An impression will be molded and brought to a dental laboratory where a dental technician will create a custom fit bridge. We’ll fit you with a temporary bridge to wear while your permanent bridge is made. Once the permanent bridge is finished, you can come back to the office where it will be affixed to your teeth.
